About Miss Alex

MSET, QTLS, PGCE, BA(Hons), AIDTA, Acrobatic Arts, Alixa-Flexibility

Miss Alex began her dance journey at age three, training in Ballet, Tap, and Modern Jazz before expanding into Contemporary, Theatre Craft, Freestyle, and Musical Theatre. At fifteen, she achieved her Level 4 Associate Teacher qualification with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) and began team-teaching the IDTA syllabus. After completing GCSEs and A-Levels in Dance, Performing Arts, Psychology, and Law, she progressed to earn a BA (Hons) in Dance Practice, followed by a PGCE specialising in Dance and Performing Arts. Throughout her teacher training, she consistently received OFSTED Outstanding grades. She later gained her Qualified Teacher of Learning & Skills (QTLS), further strengthening her expertise in dance education.

During university, Miss Alex worked as a self-employed dance teacher across several schools, delivering both IDTA and BATD syllabi to children and adults. Outside of university and work, Miss Alex continued her IDTA training across six disciplines. She also founded four after-school dance clubs, which soon developed into Locomotion Dance Studios. After graduating, she taught A-Level Dance and Performing Arts in further education before moving into secondary education to deliver the GCSE Dance syllabus, where she maintained her Outstanding OFSTED status.

In addition to her mainstream teaching career, Miss Alex began leading National Curriculum dance workshops in local primary schools, and in October 2017, she launched Locomotion Dance Studios’ evening and weekend IDTA classes for children and adults. By September 2019, the studio’s continued growth enabled her to make Locomotion Dance Studios her full-time career.

Miss Alex is dedicated to ongoing professional development. She is currently completing further teaching qualifications with the IDTA and additional examination boards, including Acrobatic Arts and Alixa Flexibility. She also undertakes regular training in safeguarding, behaviour management, and autism awareness, ensuring her teaching remains inclusive, high-quality, and reflective of best practice.
